                                                               FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. If you don’t find the answer below then contact us via our booking page. https://www.thefarmhousekitchen-tas.com/booking

Do you have midweek classes?

Our classes are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays, but we can certainly do classes during the week. Just gather a group of six or more, choose a class from our website https://www.thefarmhousekitchen-tas.com/classes and let us know which day suits you. We will need a few days’ notice to prepare though.

What type of classes do you have?

We provide a number of different day long Masterclasses as well as our Miniclasses that go for about two and a half hours. Each class will feature traditional cuisine from the south of Italy and will dispel some of the modern myths around the preparation of Italian food. We offer a large variety of classes and if you love Italian food you should find something that will take your fancy. Take a look at what we offer at https://www.thefarmhousekitchen-tas.com/classes

Can we bring our own alcohol?

There is no need to bring your own alcohol as we will provide you with a small glass of Tasmania wine to accompany your meal. The Farmhouse Kitchen is all about the food which reflects the culture of an Italian family where the food is the most important aspect. We are also conscious that people visiting us will be driving so we only offer one glass of wine on the day.

Do I need to have any prior food experience before attending a class?

There is no need for any prior cooking experience when you join us on the farm. Giuliana can show you all of the special little tips and explain the history and reasoning behind the dishes. At the same time, she will show you how easy it is to reproduce the dishes in your own home.

Our classes also cater for the experienced cook and chef as we only make genuinely traditional food that has been made in the same way for hundreds of years which means that the modern cook can learn about how things were once made, why they were made that way and taste the difference.

What do I get when I book into a Masterclass or a Miniclass?

We are so proud of providing people with the feeling of being in an Italian family for a day, making food together around our workbench and then sitting together at the table at the end of it all to eat, chat and enjoy what we have produced. We offer tea or coffee upon arrival and morning tea during our Masterclasses, a glass of wine with your meal and even if we are making savoury dishes there is always dessert, even in our Miniclasses!!!

There is no need to remember all of the procedures, tips and myths we will show you on the day, as The Farmhouse Kitchen provides you with a folder full of recipes at the end of each class.

Can I take food home with me?

Sadly, we are unable to allow you to take food home with you even though, in typical Italian fashion, there is always so much food made in a class. You are welcome to eat as much as you like while you are here but we are not licensed for take-away food.

What happens if I have to cancel?

We are a very small cooking school and cancellations have a big impact on our business, as a result, all paid bookings are NON-REFUNDABLE.

CREDIT: If you are unable to attend the class, please contact us at least 14 days before your scheduled class. This ensures that your funds are kept in credit and can be used at a future date, but 14 days' notice must be given otherwise you cannot use the credit for a future class, and you forfeit the funds.

TRANSFER TO ANOTHER CLASS: 14 days' notice must be given to transfer to another date. If 14 days' notice is not given it will be deemed as a cancellation and no credit given.
The booking is transferrable so you could simply ask a friend to take your place however you will not be rescheduled to another class.

Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash.

COVID19

Covid 19 has had a significant impact on our little cooking school and the last-minute cancellations mean that we are unable to find a replacement. We can no longer reschedule people at no cost to the next available class. So now that Covid is here to stay, the usual cancellation policy will apply.

How do I get to the farm?

We provide you with directions to the farm when you book into a class. We always encourage people to take a look at our directions as they are the easiest way to get to us and a GPS has on occasion sent people on the longer more scenic route and sometimes through our internal paddocks!!

Do you cater for special dietary needs and food allergies?

There is a section on our booking form that we send to you via email which asks about food allergies or dietary requirements as it is important for us to know prior to a class. While the cuisine of Puglia in Southern Italy can usually accommodate vegetarians quite well we are unable to cater for vegan, celiac, halal or kosher cooking. Some of our Masterclasses like the Al Fresco, Traditional Pasta, Italian Bread, Carciofi (Artichoke) and our Gnocchi Miniclass can easily be adapted to suit vegetarians. Some of our classes are also suitable for people with gluten intolerance but not for celiacs.
